About Court Crew
Every referee platform is sold to somebody other than the referee. Court Crew is sold to the referee. That single decision is what the whole app is shaped around.
Who the customer is
ArbiterSports, Assignr, RefTown, GameOfficials, Refr Sports, Notch — every one of them is bought by leagues, clubs and assignors. That is not a criticism of their engineering; it is a description of who signs the cheque. In each of them the referee is the far end of the pipe: someone who receives assignments, turns up, and is paid at some point by someone not really accountable to them.
So none of those products have much reason to answer the question a referee actually asks at the end of a month. That question is not "what am I refereeing on Saturday" — it is "who still owes me money, and for which games". Court Crew treats that number as the headline.
Where it starts
Because Court Crew has no assignor side, it cannot be handed your fixtures by a league database — and it does not try to be. It starts from the thing you are already holding: the paper slip, the screenshot, the PDF appointment sheet, the assignment email.
Photograph it and the app reads the date, time, both teams, the competition, the venue, the age category and the fee, then fills in the form for you to check before saving. Or forward the assignment email to [email protected] and the match is saved without you opening the app at all. That is the difference in one sentence, and it is why the app opens on a scan button rather than a sign-up form.
What is actually built
Everything listed here exists in the app today. Nothing in this list describes something planned.
- Scan to match: camera, photo library or PDF, parsed into a prefilled match form
- Email import: forward an assignment to [email protected] and get a reply saying what was added — or that it could not be read
- Guest mode: use the app and add matches before creating an account; those matches move to the account when you make one
- Fees: a match fee and a travel fee per game, each marked paid or unpaid on its own
- Payment reminders: a message listing the unpaid games and the total, copied to your clipboard for you to send yourself
- Google Calendar: export a match, re-sync it when the fixture moves, remove it when the fixture is off
- Crew: invite officials by email with view or edit rights, and a chat thread attached to each match
- Teams, competitions, venues, notes and photos attached to the match
- Career stats and CSV export of matches, fees and history
What is not built
Court Crew has never been submitted to the App Store or Google Play. Apple Developer Program enrolment is still pending, so there is no download here and no release date being promised.
You pick one sport for your profile — football, basketball or volleyball — and the calendar assumes that single sport, so officiating two sports side by side is not properly supported yet. There is no password-reset email. And there is no web version of the app: this is a website, the product is the phone.
Who builds it
Two basketball referees. One of us is building it; the other joins later. It was started after one season too many spent re-typing fixtures out of separate league portals, chasing an assignor over a fee from four months earlier, and keeping the only reliable record of a refereeing career in a spreadsheet.
"We" would be flattering. It is an email address, and it is read by the person who wrote the code.
